A health solution used in Space
Clinical research into Pulsed Magnetic Fields, or PEMF, began in the 1950’s and soon emerged as one of the best means of repairing non-union bone fractures. By the 1960’s, it had become a scientific priority for another reason. The first astronauts returned from even short trips into Space with fatigue, depression, bone loss, and other symptoms.
Scientists soon realised that the cause was travelling outside Earth’s magnetic field, and later experiments found even worse effects if there was total insulation from this energy.
Their solution was to re-create it in spacecraft and space suits, delivering magnetic and frequency stimulation through PEMF technology. They found that they could re-energise cells, reduce inflammation, protect against bone loss, and boost the circulatory and immune systems.
A subsequent four-year study by NASA published in 2003 showed the effectiveness of PEMF in generating tissue repairs, particularly in nerve cells.
For various reasons, these discoveries have become equally relevant for the rest of us…
Our changing Earth
The strength of this vital energy has been falling — the British Geological Survey says “We know from studies of the magnetisation of minerals in ancient clay pots that the Earth’s magnetic field was approximately twice as strong in Roman times as it is now.”
The U.S. Geological Survey has made similar statements. Earlier reports estimated that Earth’s magnetic field has been weakening by 5% every 100 years.
However, a 2014 report in Live Science said the European Space Agency now believes that this has accelerated: the field is now weakening by 5% every 10 years.
Crucially, other scientists point out our bodies evolved for millennia in Earth’s magnetic field. It is one of the most fundamental energies underlying the more obvious chemical and mechanical systems in our bodies. Today, our bodies have had less than two generations to adapt to man-made electrical fields (EMF’s), and less than 20 years to adapt to an explosion of man-made communication signals.
Our changing electrical environment
Electro Smog: Mobile Phone Mast We now live in a smog of different signal frequencies and intensities: from inside the house we have mobile phones, cordless phones, wireless broadband and game controllers, computers and household appliances.
From outside there are our neighbours’ wi-fi and cordless phones, power lines, mobile phone masts and myriad satellite transmissions.
Many countries, including the UK from 2015, are installing gas and electricity networks in which every house has a “smart meter” sending constant energy usage transmissions to remote collecting stations — the equivalent of a small mobile phone transmitter on every building.
This will affect all of us, but especially those living in close proximity to their neighbours. This will be most intense in cities, and especially apartment buildings, with clusters of meters.
We have wi-fi zones in cafes, schools, trains and many city centres, and EMF radiation in the average workplace can be even higher. Some occupations are particularly exposed (airline pilots and cabin crews, policemen, financial traders, medical staff..)
High emf fields have been found in a number of leading car models, especially some of the more expensive ones. And increasing numbers of people are driving certain types of vehicles which produce even higher fields.
One example of the biological effects of these fields is a November 2011 study by Eastern Virginia Medical School — it found that human sperm stored below a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop computer for just four hours showed significant levels of impaired function and DNA damage. The world’s largest-ever study of sperm counts, conducted in France over 16 years and across a sample of 26,000 men, found that between 1989 and 2005, their average total counts, and counts of healthy sperm, fell by a third. There will be other causal factors (such as regular exposure to oestrogen-like compounds) but if we connect these two pieces of research, it’s probably safe to assume that, ten years later, this trend has only worsened.
The key here is frequency: the PEMF systems selected for the Life Mats use low frequencies in the 0-40 Hz range found in human brain waves (and in the earth’s ionosphere). By contrast, a DECT cordless phone, one of the most common devices in an average household, operates at around 3 Gigahertz (3,000,000,000 Hz). In 2011, the World Health Organisation, a very conservative and slow-to-react organisation, finally announced that Radio Frequency radiation is a “possible human carcinogen”. It rated it as Class 2B, a category that includes DDT, lead and engine exhausts.
Unless you live in a very remote region, and have eliminated all major sources of emf fields in your home, you’re surrounded by this background radiation 24 hours a day, and insulated from Earth’s natural field by the way modern houses are constructed. It just seems common sense to assume that a dense jumble of powerful, man-made energy signals would interfere with how our cells absorb a much weaker, natural source of energy – an energy found to underpin all the electrical and chemical processes in our bodies.
The perfect storm
Whether or not you accept the claimed link between this EMF smog and the state of our health, it’s hard to argue with the world’s top Space scientists and the world’s top geologists when they talk about Earth’s magnetic field, its declining strength, and, crucially, its biological effects.
It would be absurd to claim this as the single cause, but it’s also impossible to ignore the state of health of our species. We are witnessing steeply rising virtually epidemic levels of “lifestyle diseases” and premature ageing.
These carry enormous implications for the affordability of health care systems, and for the fate of people’s life savings which are increasingly threatened by the cost of residential care homes.
The Brtiish government warned in mid 2015 that the National Health Service will soon become unsustainable unless people start to take individual responsibility for their own health.
So, we live in a world where our key energy source has dropped by a half in the past 2000 years, and even the benefits we used to draw from that energy have been vastly reduced by the electro smog we’ve created in the past 20 years. The EMF fields we’ve created are here to stay, and they are steadily increasing, every year, in their range of frequencies, and intensity. And our society is becoming rapidly sicker.
The only question is: what’s a good antidote?
Pulsed magnetism offers a solution
Waterfall and Energy Fields Space scientists gave astronauts a magnetic stimulation technology that we can all now enjoy. It means we can immerse ourselves in the same kind of energy and frequencies that we used to get from direct contact with the Earth, but at levels not seen for centuries.
Plentiful energy, deep sleep, a sense of peace, clarity of thought and lack of reactivity. You may still experience these on holidays in the mountains or near a quiet beach, but they’re increasingly absent in modern society.
Static magnets, used in bracelets and bed pads, have been used in healing for thousands of years. Many people with arthritis say they still have value. But they can’t compete with the fluctuating fields used in the best PEMF devices.
Will the treatment have an effect on other medical treatments? What will my doctor think?
If you are experiencing undiagnosed pain or any kind of health condition, it is always advisable to first consult your GP. It is also a good idea to let them know that you are giving yourself PEMF treatment. PEMF has an excellent track record with the treatment of bone problems such as osteoporosis and fractures, but in the UK, it’s likely that many doctors will not have heard of it, even if they specialise in orthopaedics. The only possible concern is that the treatment is aimed at making the body more efficient on a cellular level, which means you may also respond more efficiently to medication. If you are currently taking any drugs for a medical issue, you should discuss this with your doctor as your dosage may need to be adjusted. Unless you’re only taking pain killers, your doctor should be the one who decides whether it is appropriate to reduce your dosage.
What will actually be happening in my body during my Life Mat session?
When the body’s cell membranes are bathed in a PEMF field, they become more energized and the positive and negative ions will achieve a better balance. This means the body is able to perform more efficient absorption of oxygen and nutrients and eliminate waste more effectively. As the blood vessels dilate and red blood cells repel each other more strongly, circulation is improved and the oxygen content of the blood rises. The cell membranes’ protein layer also releases calcium, setting off various reactions including greater activity in the immune system. Under PEMF treatment, the autonomic nervous system will change from stressed sympathetic mode into relaxed parasympathetic mode. It is then more able to release the neuro-transmitters needed for effective tissue repair and health maintenance. This effect is even more pronounced if we use the Life Mat’s Heart Rate Variability and Sound and Light options. Many of these effects will continue for hours after the treatment is completed. This is particularly important when we are asleep, as this is when the most cellular repairs are taking place.
Is the treatment painful? Can it cause me any harm or start off a healing reaction?
PEMF can occasionally cause some pain if you have an old injury or other health condition which is not fully resolved. As the cells in your body become more energized, they may start to try and fix the problem, causing some pain or discomfort in the location of the original injury. Your body may also go through a short de-toxifying stage; this is usually experienced as a day or two of cold-like symptoms and fatigue. Overall, approximately 1 in 10 of clients with chronic symptoms will experience an initial healing reaction, particularly if they have been on medication for long periods of time. Symptoms can be alleviated by drinking plenty of water and making sure you are well rested and getting enough sleep. These less pleasant phases are usually followed by beneficial effects such as increased energy and a greater sense of well being.
No other negative effects have been documented from PEMF, especially as the Life Mat uses low intensity and frequency levels. It simply recreates the same energy frequencies that humans would have experienced several millennia ago from living in Earth’s natural magnetic field. This energy is vital for life on Earth, and experiments and research have shown us that the human body will begin to close down when totally insulated from it.
Are there any circumstances when the Life Mat should not be used?
PEMF is not suitable under these conditions:
- If you are pregnant
- If you have been fitted with a pacemaker or any other type of electrical implant
- If you have undergone an organ transplant
If you have any of these conditions, consult your doctor before undergoing PEMF:
- Cardiac arrhythmia
- High fever
- A serious fungal or bacterial infection
How does the Life Mat differ from other types of magnets?
Permanent magnets only produce a single frequency, which means that are not capable of reproducing the natural pulsating magnetic field of the Earth which our bodies evolved in. They can provide short term relief and be effective in certain circumstances, but over time the body will become accustomed to their constant field which means the beneficial impact will be reduced. They also typically have to use much higher magnetic strengths to produce any effect, and they have to be worn for long periods for the user to feel any benefits.
In comparison, PEMF systems pass a pulsing electric current along metal coils to produce a weaker electromagnetic field which only needs to be applied for short periods. It imitates the natural fields of the Earth, with low pulsed magnetic frequencies having a beneficial effect on several of the body’s cellular processes, including oxygenation, metabolism, and waste elimination.
In 2011, 17 studies were carried out by scientists in Germany using static magnets, and 10 using PEMF (Salomonowitz G1, Friedrich M, Güntert BJ., Schmerz. 2011 Apr;25(2):157-60, 162-5. doi: 10.1007/s00482-010-1005-0). All of the studies were double-blind, randomised and placebo-controlled. They concluded that static magnetic fields do not show any positive benefits when used in pain therapy, whereas dynamic magnetic fields (PEMF) show diverse effects which were promising enough to be explored in greater depth.
Does PEMF have any scientific research behind it?
Extensive research on the benefits of PEMF began in the 1960s, and it has continued ever since then. Today, there are more than 1,000 clinical studies outlining its beneficial qualities. If required, we can supply you with an email containing a selection from these studies, or connect you with a huge database featuring them all. Besides this, there are also more than 6,000 scientific papers discussing the interactions between electromagnetic, radio frequency and electrical signals and the effects they have on the human body.
